“What’s meant to be will always find a way.”
Even though 2011 has come and gone, I still have so many wonderful weddings and sessions to share with you all. It’s nothing new that I’m “behind on blogging”… so I’m excited to finally share Courtney’s bridal session! With this bridal session came new jitters and nerves… Courtney and her new husband, James, are a husband and wife photography team – so when Courtney contacted me about capturing their wedding I was SO completely humbled and flattered. Capturing another photographers big day was SO amazing, but boy was I a nervous wreck! Showing up at Courtney’s bridal shoot, I was completely on edge wanting so badly to capture Courtney the way James would capture her… but, to no surprise, Courtney was absolutely amazing and made me feel instantly calm… she has that wonderful personality where right when you meet her for the first time, you feel like you’ve known her for a lifetime. I hope I was able to capture just a glimpse of how beautiful she is inside and out. Enjoy….
Courtney, thank you so much for being your sweet, beautiful, amazing, self.

When looking back on this wedding, this day was simply perfect. I loved so much watching Lori and Eric together… you could feel the closeness they had with each other…. best friends. What was most special to me, this was one of those weddings where I did not feel as if I was doing just a “job”… I felt very much a part of this wedding. I wasn’t just the photographer, I was a friend… A friend being able to witness a beautiful moment in time. That means the most to me.
Thank you Lori and Eric for that… your kindness will be something that I will never forget.

Once again, here I sit…. writing about a year that has come and gone. Each year seems to fly by faster and faster. (I probably even said that in last year’s post) Having such an incredible year come to an end is so bittersweet to me… so many thoughts and emotions run thru my head as I sit here and try to describe what 2011 has meant to me…. it’s nearly impossible to put into words. I know saying, “it’s nearly impossible to put into words” sounds like the easy way out… but it’s truly my heart. Nothing, not even this blog post, can describe how precious the year 2011 was for me. I always like to dedicate this blog post to my amazing clients… I could go on and on about myself… and things personally that meant so much to me… but this post isn’t about me – it’s always about my clients, nothing more. As I was putting together the collage of images for this post, my heart was overtaken by emotion and joy. To see face…. after face… after face… of the amount of sweet souls I’ve had the honor and privilege of not only capturing some AMAZING times in their lives… but being able to connect with each one and now call them friends… is SUCH a huge blessing and it’s what I hold on to the most.
To all my sweet, precious, clients – thank you for not only allowing me to be a part of your special moment… but for being one of MY special moments in 2011.
2012…. get ready.

Brittany and Brad’s beautiful wedding took place at the lovely Houmas House Plantation in Darrow, LA. This venue holds a special place in my heart because it’s where I said, “I do” over 4 years ago! This has always been and still is one of my top favorite wedding venues in the south. It’s southern charm is simply breathtaking… so I’m always pretty giddy when I book a wedding that is taking place there. Brittany and Brad’s big day was simple, sweet, and prefect. They were both so incredibly easy going… it was a beautiful, but hot (in the upper 90′s) summer day back in May… The heat and humidity did not stop them from wanting to get amazing photos… so they, and their UBER amazing bridal party put up with being outside and took photos for 2 straight hours before the ceremony. With being the troopers they all were, it allowed me to do what I love doing. I broke this wedding down in to 2 parts. Part One is the beginning of the day and everything else leading up to the ceremony. I hope you all enjoy!!

To top off this amazing day, Brittany and Brad decided to see each other before the ceremony…!!! Their reactions were priceless during their “First Look”… Every time I have the opportunity to shoot a First Look, I fall more and more in love with the idea. It’s a moment just for the Bride and Groom… a moment that they can share together… they can talk… kiss… touch each other.. it’s truly beautiful. Here are some words from Brittany about her First Look with Brad :
“Our favorite moment from our wedding day was definitely our “first look.” It was so great to have that moment together in the midst of all of the hustle and bustle of the wedding. Seeing each other before the ceremony really helped to get rid of some of those wedding day jitters too!”

Today I thought it would be fitting for a blog post. It’s Thanksgiving and I have so much to be thankful for… Today I will be around the ones I love most in my life… and also share some of my work with all of you… I am immensely thankful that I’m able to do what I love so much… this journey has been amazing so far and I anticipate what’s to come in 2012. God is good.
I’ve been looking forward to blogging this session every since the day I shot it!! I always say this, but I absolutely adore everything about a bridal session. I love having the bride all to myself… Because the wedding day can be so fast-paced, it’s hard sometimes to really spend a lot of time on just portraits of the bride…. A bridal session is only about the bride…. capturing her beauty and essence. I love that. Brittany was amazing and flawless in every way possible. I especially loved the way the coloring came out in these images…. it was a perfect shoot.
Brittany, you are absolutely stunning… You were simply perfect to photograph… and this session will always be a favorite in my book.
Wishing you all a beautiful, blessed, Thanksgiving!
